| The Colt Government 1911 A1 CO2 Pistol |
This year is the 100th anniversary of the US military adopting John Moses Browning’s 1911 Colt .45 as its official sidearm. What better time to try out Umarex’s CO2 version of that classic handgun design? Built under license from Colt, the CO2 version is a dead ringer for its firearm big brother. It’s all there–the slide release, the thumb and grip safeties, the magazine release button, and the classically-shaped trigger and grip panels. The CO2 pistol not only looks like a Colt .45, it hefts and feels like one, too. The manual lists its unloaded weight as 38 oz, and 40.5 oz fully loaded, which is right around what many types of .45 caliber 1911s weigh. The Umarex version offers both front and rear cocking serrations, features not found on several brands of 1911s in .45. But these features are not just cosmetic; the shooter must manipulate them to use the pistol, making the experience very similar in some ways to shooting the .45 caliber version. | From the Bench: Proper Pellet Selection for Rotary Magazine Guns |
When it comes to proper pellet selection for Umarex airguns that use rotary magazines, we time and time again see people choosing the wrong pellets. At best, a wrong pellet will shoot inaccurately, and at worst it can damage the magazine or gun itself. We recommend that airguns utilizing a rotary style magazine not be loaded with pointed pellets. This is because pointed pellets are typically longer in length than other styles of pellets, and if they protrude from within the dimension of the magazine then it will likely result in the gun not cycling properly. This is because the end of the pellet can "catch" and cause the gun to cycle improperly. Pointed pellets can also damage the internal hand that rotates the magazine, which leads to future problems with the gun mechanism being able to rotate the magazine to the next chamber when you try to shoot. 1911 100th year anniversary Did you know that 2011 is the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the popular 1911 pistol design? During the 100th anniversary year of the 1911, Umarex USA is introducing the .45 ACP Regent R100 pistol as an authentic version of the classic M1911 A1 pistol design. See the Regent website for more information on this high quality, but affordably priced 1911 model. The M1911 body style has been one of the most popular pistol designs since its introduction. The original model 1911 was formally adopted by the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps shortly after introduction, with heavy production and use during both World War I and II. Several other military and law enforcement organizations in the United States and other countries continue to use variants of the M1911, and extreme popularity of the pistol makes it a well-liked handgun for many individuals in their personal collections. |
| Gun Safety |
Product Spotlight |
"Engage your brain before touching any type of gun." Airgun safety rules. • If an airgun is dropped, check to see that it works properly before using it again. If anything seems changed, like a shorter or weaker trigger pull, this may mean worn out or broken parts. Contact Umarex USA for assistance. • Do not consume alcohol prior to, or during a shooting session. • On air rifles, scopes are to be mounted with 2 ¾" to 3" of eye relief to prevent bodily injury. • On break-barrel air rifles, DO NOT PULL THE TRIGGER WITH THE BARREL BROKEN OVER. The barrel will fly up causing a bent barrel and could result in serious injury to you or those near you. • Perform regular maintenance on your airgun to make sure that it remains safe for use.

Beretta Px4 Storm
The Px4 Storm air pistol is not only a BB gun, but a pellet gun as well. It will shoot either projectile from its revolutionary dual-ended magazine. This 16-shot repeater will have you shooting as fast as you can pull the trigger. There's an 8-shot rotary clip on one end of the stick mag, and another one at the other end. Since it shoots BBs or pellets, you'll have more flexibility with ammo choice. A 12-gram CO2 is easily loaded into the grip and gives you plenty of shots before you need a refill. There's even an accessory rail under the barrel. Like the handgun, it has real blowback action, it really kicks, giving you a feeling of power that most airguns only hope to achieve!
