Operation Balldrop III
Elite Forces of Airsoft

On February 20th, 2010, 202 men and women dressed in green or tan converged on the old hospital grounds at Chaffee Crossing. The area of operation was strewn with long corridors and high brush. The sky was overcast as a breeze swirled around the buildings and through the tops of the trees on the perimeter. Tan assembled in the Southwest, green Northeast. North of the compound an Umarex banner rippled in the wind among the guys in black, the terrorists, admiring the new Elite Force and HK elite airsoft rifles, like the HK 416 CQB, the HK MP5 A5 TAC, and the Elite Force K-PDW.

This was the third annual Operation Balldrop tactical military scenario event hosted by RIP Squad and ARairsoft.net. Objectives were provided and the AO was soon a buzz with radio transmissions and the “tack-tack-tack” of 200 elite airsoft guns.

Squads moved through halls, clearing rooms as cohesive elements, despite platoon leaders assigning them to a squad full of complete strangers from seven states including Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Georgia, and Louisiana. The search was on for multiple objectives and ultimately the capture of a “terrorist leader”.

As time moved on and battles ensued the objectives were recovered and delivered to headquarters. It was ADF (Allied Defence Forces–green), in the end that ended up victorious, but not without a strong insurgence from the IEA (Invading Expeditionary Armies–tan).

When the event came to an end squadrons convened near the Umarex USA tent to eat Al’s Barbeque and win some great door prizes that included some new HK AEGs and free entry into the Oklahoma Invasion, the area’s next big event taking place on May 1st.

All in all, the day was considered a resounding success, with plenty of "trigger time" for all involved. Everyone had a good time, and there were no serious injuries.
