 A new challenge, a new company, a new market segment. UMAREX arose in times of change and has always profited from its ability to master change. UMAREX was founded in 1972 as the “UMA Mayer & Ussfeller GmbH” and first served the market for tear-gas and signal pistols and then air rifles, too. The go als for further corporate development were thus defined for Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer and Franz Wonisch. They became the “kings of replicas.”
Today UMAREX is Europe’s largest importer of air rifles. It is at the same time the world’s largest maker of replicas. Famous makers such as Smith & Wesson, Colt, Beretta, FN Browning, Magnum Research Inc., and Walther have awarded UMAREX licenses to construct tear-gas, signal guns, and CO2 airguns.
