The spiral lines in the slug provide gyroscopic stability along the trajectory and provide long-distance precision. They're built with self-reducing projections, so as not to damage barrels and this feature also allows the slug to be fired from choked and rifled barrels. The slug has two pre-set fractures which, on hitting the target, enable the slug to deform by percussion of the central pin.
