
When it comes to airguns, most consumers can readily acknowledge BB guns and pellet guns exist, and might have even owned one or more in their lives. But time moves on and the average person might never own or even think about airguns after their late teens. Likewise, time has moved on in the world of airguns. If you haven’t been around here in the airgun space for a while, boy are you in for a surprise!

While you were sleeping the airgun industry has revolutionized. Yes, all the old favorite BB guns and pellet guns are still available, but the now formats like airsoft (think paintball sans paint), mag-fed or replica paintball, less lethal personal defense devices, pre-charged pneumatic airguns, big-bore pre-charged pneumatic air rifles, and, now, arrow air guns.
The arrow airgun is mostly a product for hunters, but there are some devices that are designed around family fun. Starting with the family fun model, Umarex’s 88 gram CO2 powered AirJavelin. The AirJavelin shoots an arrow about the same size as a crossbow bolt, but is quite a bit lighter in overall weight. This arrow device can be used for hunting smaller game like younger feral pigs. Arrows shot from the CO2 powered AirJavelin will travel over 350 FPS and makes around 24 FPE.

Our new AirJavelin N2 is powered by Umarex’s NitroAir nitrogen cartridges. These cartridges have 32 grams of nitrogen which is pressurized at 3,200 PSI. As such, a 225 grain arrow over 450 FPS. This arrow airgun is indeed suitable for hunting game as large as deer. The AirJavelin N2 is lightweight, full featured and easy to use.
Next up in terms of power output is the AirSaber series of arrow guns, which has been Umarex’s heavy hitter for the past 5 years. The AirSaber is a full size rifle that produces off the charts energy. The original AirSaber fills to 3,600 PSI and sends a 376 grain arrow downrange at 450 FPS. This airgun has been used successfully in Africa to harvest not only plains game, but dangerous game as well. New for 2026 is the AirSaber Alpha. This new arrow gun has a maximum fill pressure of 4,500 PSI and will send the same 376 grain arrow down range at 475 FPS.
Air Archery might be new, but it is an undeniably powerful and effective way to explore airgunning in a unique way.
