Time to Change the Mindset

The kids have all started back to school, Labor Day has come and gone and now we approach what some people consider the most fun holiday of the year, Halloween. Before you know it, all the family will start bombarding you with questions about your plans for Thanksgiving and what savory dishes you will be bringing to the gathering.

I think you can see where I’m going with this. The Christmas shopping season is upon us, or at least will be very soon. In a general way of speaking, it is wise to begin your holiday shopping sooner rather than later for budgeting purposes. While all the hubbub is still focused on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, taking care of some purchases well before those post-Thanksgiving shopping frenzies arrive can still save you money and make for a much lighter hit to the wallet that first week of December.

If you are anything like me, you already have a go-zillion emails hitting your inbox on a daily basis.  I delete no less than 50 or so per day, even after I have un-subscribed from many more. That said, open them up with some pre-game Christmas shopping in mind. The same can be said for SMS or text marketing messages.  This tool can be especially useful since the offer in the text might be exclusive or completely different from what you see in an email.  Yes, SMS marketing texts can be annoying but there are deals to be had there on the regular.

Remember, the shopping strategy is not to load up on all of your shopping at once, but to spread it out over the coming months so there's not a huge hit to the December budget.

If you haven’t signed up for for the Umarex Club E-Newsletter, you can do that here. Likewise, if you would like to receive SMS messages from Umarex (we don’t text more than once per week!) you can do that here.

Shopping strategically can prevent another grand American finance tragedy from unfolding. That is a fat load of debt placed on a credit card. Remember, there’s a substantial tax placed upon such purchases when you have to pay them off over the course of time. That tax, interest, is punitive and can leave you with what is known as shoppers remorse.  When you pay with cash or an equivalent non-debt type payment, it’s hard to regret it. Debt is a chain wrapped around your neck. You have to work to keep it from strangling you. Shop smart this year.
