The ReadyAir G2 is Here!

ReadyAir Gen2

This year at SHOT Show Umarex unveiled an updated version of the ReadyAir electric high-pressure pump. The ReadyAir first appeared in the catalog in 2021 and has been many PCP airgunners' best option for filling their PCP air rifles. Yes, there were some cheaper options on the market, however, these mystery brands offered no factory support and needed to be used in very specific ways to prevent an instant meltdown. No, the ReadyAir isn’t meant to fill big carbon fiber fill tanks, but it will fill up any tank attached to any factory air rifle on the market.

That said, it was an affordable, durable, and versatile filling option for airgunners. On the downside, the original ReadyAir was a bit on the bulky and heavy side. In the re-design phase it was determined that we could make the ReadyAir much better and we should do that in the form of an update.  As such, the ReadyAir slimmed down and lost inches, to borrow terminology from the weight loss industry. Not only that, but the engineers figured out a way to make it quieter, too.

It’s no mystery that better designed products can mean the difference between a great day and a bad day.  Sometimes it's something little, other times it can be some significant changes that make something so much better. Think of how the cordless drill simplified and improved everything from household fix-its to commercial construction.

Ergo, with the ReadyAir G2, not only is it much lighter, some 30% less weight, it is also 30% less bulky, and it is 40% quieter.

Earlier this year I bought one to use at home to help with my prep for the 2025 competition season.  Having no better place outside, I plugged it into the wall inside my house and filled up both of my Zelos’. My .25 caliber Zelos was totally empty and had been converted to a 500cc tank. It took around 13-14 minutes to fill to 4,000 psi. My .22 caliber Zelos is completely factory and had around 1,500 psi in its tank. It only took 4-5 minutes to top off to 3,600psi.

I don’t have a home range at the moment so my shooting there is rather limited. However, I do have an informal shooting area in a section of national forest not too far away.  This is where I learned that the ReadyAir G2 fits very nicely behind my old Jeep’s back seat. And it also did a great job of refilling the .25 caliber Zelos that I was going to use for 100 yard benchrest via the DC connection hooked to the Jeep’s battery.

Having a portable option that is easy to take along with you creates a level of convenience that makes such a product indispensable. Is the ReadyAir G2 indispensable for you?  I honestly don’t know. However, I do know that it is indispensable for me.  It works, it doesn’t take up too much room, it is highly portable, and it produces a much reduced sonic signal when compared to other pumps. It has been a tool that has made me want to shoot more and that keeps me changing shooting locations because I can!
