If you are a homeowner, professional or not, you have likely had to deal with pests. Whether you live in an urban environment or a rural farmstead or estate, rats, squirrels, raccoons, and the like are active threats to your home’s exterior, your garbage cans, your machinery, and your sanity. In these cases taking care of business yourself can be much cheaper than hiring out pest control specialists. Is it for you? Maybe, maybe not. If the answer is, “Yes, I don’t mind spending some time hunting for pests.” then you might be in the market for a quiet, accurate, humane pest control solution in the form of an airgun.
The closer to neighbors you are, the more stealth and discretion is needed. Discretion here comes in the form of knowing your neighbors and their disposition for pest elimination as well as choosing an airgun that will mitigate the risk of over-penetration to protect your and your neighbor’s properties. It’s not a bad idea to consult with your closer neighbors so that they know you are on the lookout for pests.

This said, an airgun like the Notos is hard to beat in any environment. Also, the Notos is extremely compact and lightweight and features a multishot magazine and side lever action for a super slick interface. New for 2026 is the N2 Fill Station that will allow you to fill your PCP airgun tank with the Umarex NitroAir 32g cartridge. You might find that you really like to shoot your Notos. In that case, picking up an electric PCP compressor like the Umarex ReadyAir G2. This will keep you shooting for years and years.

Next up would be the Umarex Komplete® NCR Rifles. These airguns are on the market right now in .177 and .22 caliber. Soon, a .25 caliber version will arrive here at the warehouse for shooters wanting a more substantial caliber for larger pests. The Komplete® rifles are designed to be used with NitroAir® cartridges. These cartridges are filled with 32 grams of nitrogen gas that is pressurized at 3,600 psi. Another option that makes a lot of sense for many homeowners is the Synergis Elite. This is a traditional spring (gas piston in this case) powered single stroke air rifle. What is unusual about the Synergis Elite is that this air rifle utilizes an underlever cocking arm and an auto-indexing multishot magazine. All that is needed for this rifle is to pick up some pellets and it is ready to go.
