PCP Airgun Hunting on a Budget

The old saying is that money doesn’t grow on trees.  Yes, the struggle is real and these days more and more people are struggling to pay their bills, let alone pick up some new gear for their hobbies. Inflation and stagnant wages are tag-teaming us average Joe's to cause pain.  One of the nice...

Winter Blues?  We Haven’t Even Had a Fall!

What a wacky, weird year this has been. Well, it started out more or less normal in most areas of the country, but as the summer wore on, and it’s evidently still wearing on, normal went out of the window many weeks ago. The usual mid-to-late September cool down we experience here in the Ozarks...

.22 VS .30 PCP Air Rifle VS .22LR Firearm
Forgive me for coming up with such a creative title. Sometimes you just can’t church it up and you are left with being boring and succinct. As succinctly as possible, it would appear that the topic of this blog will deal with comparing PCP air rifles to each other and then, those rifles to the common .22LR rimfire caliber. If you have gathered that much, thank you.
The Significance of the Passage of Time
Why do I let this surprise me every year? January through April absolutely drags by then, when the weather gets really nice for May, it feels like the accelerator pedal of time hits the floor. June, July, and August fly by as if three whole months were a mere three weeks. Here we are smack in the middle of August with the end of the year staring us in the face. There’s no alternative interpretation that is applicable. Now your mind jumps– “Is Umarex making a .45-70 or 360 Buckhammer rifle?”
Don’t (Out) Miss with the Hammer Carbine
I know it is May. It’s May and we are in the neighborhood of 6 months away from deer season. That being the case, and you being the kind of outdoorsman that like to get his gear in order well before you need it, it would be a nice time to let you know that the Hammer Carbine is here and it is all that and a bag of chips.
5 Reasons Why You Need an Air Rifle in 2024
About 110,000,000 people have been born in the US in the last 25 years. I’ve heard that using statistics and figures is a good attention getting technique in public speaking and essay writing. However, I cannot correlate that sum with any pertinent fact in regard to airgunning. Now that I have your attention (or don’t– whatever) I need to lay down the logic on why you need an airgun in 2024.
Ft. Lbs and Joules and Bears, Oh My!
How do you like to measure power? For me it depends on what you are talking about. If we are talking about lightbulbs, watts or watt equivalent will let me know how much light output to expect from that bulb. If it is an internal combustion engine, then horsepower and torque help tell the story for me. But when it comes to guns, from firearms to airguns, there are two common ways to describe power output and, depending on where you are from, one might be more common than the other.
